bio

Françoise Duressé examines the complexities of destruction within memory and place, body language, the spoken language and shifting political realities of race identities. Her work is an ongoing investigation that centers on contemporary events placed in context with her oral history where she transform personal experiences in the world into a lyrical visual dialog.

Duressé is Assistant Professor of Painting and Drawing at the University of Colorado at Boulder. She received a MFA in painting and drawing from Temple University, Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A multi-media artist, Duressé exhibits internationally and nationally.
